FLANDERS, THE BIRTHPLACE OF AN ICONIC TEXTILE

The production of exquisite damask table linens flourished in Flanders, an area that comprised parts of France, Belgium and the Netherlands, often exporting this fine, elegant Jacquard-weave fabric, generally in all white, to different parts of Europe. The incredible quality that made this textile famous is still found in Randi tablecloths today, making them perfect for Sunday lunches, holiday meals, and other important occasions. Damask fabric can be woven on a Jacquard loom in a plain color or in different hues to create shiny-opaque motifs with geometric or floral themes.

Its refinement is matched only by its durability, but at Tessitura Randi, damask has something more.

YARN-DYED JACQUARD-WOVEN DAMASK
QUALITY, BEAUTY AND DURABILITY

Damask tablecloths, handed down from mother to daughter, embody elegance and tradition in a thick, luxurious weave that flows under your fingers when setting the table on holidays, to celebrate the joy of being together with friends and family. At Tessitura Randi, the fine cotton or linen yarns used to make the brand’s damask are gathered in high thread counts (more than 10,000 warp threads), each individually controlled during the weaving process to create multicolored designs.

Making yarn-dyed damask requires the warp and weft threads to be dyed before they’re woven. Want to know more? Learn about our technique in depth in the blog article on yarn-dyed percale.
