FLANDERS, THE BIRTHPLACE OF AN ICONIC TEXTILE
The production of exquisite damask table linens flourished in Flanders, an area that comprised parts of France, Belgium and the Netherlands, often exporting this fine, elegant Jacquard-weave fabric, generally in all white, to different parts of Europe. The incredible quality that made this textile famous is still found in Randi tablecloths today, making them perfect for Sunday lunches, holiday meals, and other important occasions. Damask fabric can be woven on a Jacquard loom in a plain color or in different hues to create shiny-opaque motifs with geometric or floral themes.
